Our vision is to be Queensland’s most trusted authority in smoke alarm safety, ensuring every home is compliant and families are protected from fire risks.
We started in 2016 as an electrical business in Queensland called DC Electrical. After being in business for a number of years, and working alongside real estate agent clients, we were disheartened by the service and experiences our clients faced with other smoke alarm providers. We decided to fill this gap in the market by creating DC Smoke, a business aimed at providing people in Queensland with reliable electrical solutions for their home.
As domestic fires in the state continued to haunt the news headlines and local communities that were affected by these blazes, our central mission changed. Working smoke alarms save lives. In the largest domestic house fire in Australia, the Slacks Creek fire, the investigating Coroner found that there were two smoke alarms in the house but neither were working. Had they been working, the Coroner found, “that there was a reasonable prospect that some or all of the victims could have escaped.”
While no one wants to think about a fire breaking out in their home, they do happen, and no one in Queensland is immune to the risks of what may happen if a domestic fire breaks out and you’re not prepared. By installing interconnected photoelectric smoke alarms that meet or exceed the highest safety standards, we understand that we’re achieving so much more than smoke alarm compliance for our customers. We’re saving lives.
