DC Smoke provides smoke alarm servicing and monitoring to ensure Queensland homes meet compliance standards. So you can have complete peace of mind when it comes to selling or living in your property. Every property put up for sale in Queensland (from Jan 1, 2022) demands smoke alarms upgraded to the new AS 3786-2023, previously AS 3786-2014.
To make it even easier, we offer a comprehensive compliance package that ensures any issues with your alarms over 12 months will be handled by DC Smoke. This includes free call-outs and maintenance, giving you additional peace of mind.
It’s about keeping our neighbours and communities safe.
Feel free to also pass on this information to your agent to handle for you.
After a smoke alarm upgrade service that gets your home up to these new standards in Queensland, your smoke alarm will not need to be replaced for 10 years.
This is because these QLD smoke alarm standards mandate that all installed smoke alarms are no more than 10 years old. They must also be hardwired into your electrical system or be equipped with a non-removable 10-year 240v lithium battery.
Once installed, you can easily handle smoke alarm maintenance on your own.
Test your smoke alarm by holding the test button for 20 seconds until you hear a beep. All the alarms in your home should beep when you do this if they are interconnected.
Vacuum your smoke alarm.
Replace expired smoke alarms.
While you can handle most of your smoke alarm maintenance, such as cleaning and testing by yourself, it’s important that you reach out to a professional electrician ASAP when you face any of these issues.
If you are still getting false alarms, your battery has run dry, or if you’re unsure about how to clean and maintain your devices, call us. DC Smoke has the fast and friendly experts who will be able to help you get your smoke alarm operational and up to code. We’ll also give you advice to help you prevent false alarms.
